Re: Creationist Lunacy Invades Science Museum
The thought is tempting, but I wouldn't support that Creationist museum with my money. The whole thing should be shut down. In fact, how can that museum exist at all? Doesn't it violate some tax laws or something?

Re: Creationist Lunacy Invades Science Museum
These Creationists don't understand science or evolution but even worse is the fact that they don't even understand their own bibles and what is (or isn't) written in them. So, what does that make them? Idiots.

Re: Century of the Self: Eight People Sipping Wine in Kettering
More powerful for sure, but I think much more expensive as well. War and fear seem to me to be sustainable only temporariliy. Clinton and, especially, Obama are capitalizing on the desire for "change" which, although chimeric, is probably even more lucrative than what we currently have. Then again, it could all be part of some grand cycle that we're falling into...

Re: Vintage Bordeaux
I lived there for half a year as a student. Did a big report on Bordelais wine, toured several chateux and drank LOTS of wine. Best experience ever, would strongly recommend moving to that town. Gorgeous country, too.

Re: Jeremy Irons talks about the death penalty
One of the main problems I have with capital punishment is how it is decided that one is deserving of it. The traditional argument that all murderers should be killed themselves would be ideal if all people guilty of murder were frothing, homicidal savages. Yet, the reality is almost always much more complicated and morally ambiguous.
Also, what about crimes other than murder that warrent the death penalty? What about crimes that are punishable by death such as those listed in the Christian bible? Capital punishment is typically supported more by those with a stronger sense of morality. But with such a wide array of moral beliefs, whose morality should be used as the basis for capital punishment?
Finally, examine the figures that surround this issue. Is capital punishment actually serving the purposes that its proponents support it for? Generally, my philosophy is that if something is designed for a reason but cannot justify its existence by fulfilling the needs that is was designed to address then get rid of it.

Re: Larry King: Michael Moore, Feb 08
My god, what is this world coming to. I found myself agreeing with almost everything that Michael Moore said. Someone please wake me from this horrible nightmare!

Re: Calculate Your God Delusion Index
Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they don't think for themselves. Perhaps you should reexamine your own beliefs before you criticize how others think. It may be to your benefit to rationally try to debunk each component of your belief set. If you succeed, your beliefs were in vain. If you do not succeed, this should reinforce your original belief set, and you should be able to defend it in logical terms from the atheists you seem to think are persecuting you.
Now run along and let us now how that turns out.

Re: Louis Theroux Visits the Evangelists
Louis does it again! How he manages to spend time with some of these people without going completely mental himself is beyond me, but he stays sweet and composed the entire time.

Please. I don't normally flame people on this website but your comments about sensibility are so off base that they're insulting. These people are not angry bees, they're human beings who should know better than to behave in the way that they do. What do we do to people that act this way? We show them how little we regard their opinions towards us by ignoring their objections and not letting them affect our behavior. We also, as a global community, make efforts to correct their behavior and bringing attention to it, as this film and others like it do, is the first step towards this.
Just because other people have a shared belief or opinion doesn't make it right. Stop cowering in fear and grow a backbone for Christ's sake.
