Look, I agree the power of issuing money should be the government's instead of private banks and that fractional reserve lending is unsustainable, but the Fed is not trying to hurt the US.
The Fed is partially privatized for a reason: because the people in 1913 wanted a decentralized, free market system. That's why appointees serve staggered 14 year terms and why it was designated an "IGA". If you think the bailout out is socialistic, then a publicly-owned central bank is even more so.
So it is understandable that member banks want to make money; it is because they're privately owned, as you stated. I just don't believe the Fed is purposely trying to screw us.

Hey, I agree with you completely. But the Fed can still be a government agency even with no Federal involvement or funding. It is independent in the truest sense. I'm just saying they aren't trying to be evil; they're job is to combat inflation, make sure the economy grows, and self-preservation (the banking system in existence).

Well the purpose of the Fed being independently operated and financed was so that the control of the US's money supply wouldn't be politicized. I don't think the Fed is trying to rule the world, their goals are just the same as any other business.
