I agree: well said. But in Ed's defence (IFD, I am not Ed nor do I know him), the allegorical level of his satire is that of an ignorant man clinging to religion in order to explain the world around him, and, therefore, would not hit on the items you mentioned. You say that you understand that this is satire, but I think you're still taking it too seriously. If he were to delve any deeper into the subject, it would ruin the act.
