Re: Richard Dawkins: Why the Campaign Against Religion?

Re: Choosing My Religion (2)
His logic falls apart when he disregards the religions not actively trying to get followers.
If they don't go after people its probably b/c the religion is sound on its own w/o needing the popular vote to back it up, and that the followers are happy enough with it that they don't need to convince other people to convince themselves.

Re: Why Do People Laugh at Creationists? (Part 24)
He speaks out against slavery, how it was once legal.
The bible however states that it should still be legal. It gives details on what slaves are worth and how to buy and sell them.
At the end his plea to people is to believe in a god so that you can feel as though you are important.
Sorry Stein, I don't need a fairytale to see how wonderful our existence is.

Re: Why Don't We Die When the Sun Goes Down?
You're completely right.
The atheists even tried to point the theists to a website where they can find some better arguments for the existence of god(s).
You can't ask a dumb question without getting a dumb answer.

- The bible is not a weapon - That is really what it comes down to.

Re: Penn and Teller Bullshit: Environmental Hysteria
Usually I find P&T take a black and white stance on different subjects, not so much here.
It seemed to me they were arguing about the hysteria and not the actual subject.
They were showing that people will protest b/c they like to protest. At different points in the show they conceded that environmental issues are important.
It would have still been better if they had shown some more evidence backing up environmental concerns, but that isn't their thing. They're not trying to show the balanced argument, just one side of it.
I didn't see the point of this episode as saying that there is no environmental concern, rather that people want to protest something so a lot of people don't know what they're talking about.

Re: P&T Bullshit: 2nd Hand Smoke/Baby Bullshit
Bullshit is usually an entertaining show. However, they're just bitching. There are a couple good shows and the rest is just them complaining or making fun of the advocates of the opposite side of what the show is about.
If you make the person look dumb, then the idea they believe in must be wrong right.
Its a funny show, but its complete bullshit.
Also, I used to go to clubs when smoking was allowed inside and it had a real, tangible effect on me. Its just hard to breathe. Now smoking is not allowed and I find clubs to be a much cleaner atmosphere.
Smoking inside just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Re: Rules of Seduction
Its also interesting to note that these guys are almost always huge geeks.
Just shows what a mind capable of concentration and determination can do for you.

Re: Rules of Seduction
PUA has always interested me. It is the assumption that women just need to be beautiful for men to like them, but men need to have great character and personality (among other things of course). This just isn't true.
My favourite teacher of this stuff is David DeAngelo, he teaches pick up techniques but he also teaches series on keeping attraction for those that just want to find the right girl.
Its nice to know what not to do to keep the sexual attraction there.

Re: Andy Kaufman Elvis Impersonation (1979 Johnny Cash Show)
Was that the whole thing or was it clipped?
The punchline of the gag is when he says 'Thank you very much' after the impersonation.
At any rate, man was pure genius. Esp. being able to pull off the gag again and again.
