Re: Obama on the abortion issue
Obama's situation is much more delicate than Trudeau's was at the time. Trudeau was not trying to appeal to and earn the votes of an entire nation---he was only explaining the reasoning and motivation behind his Omnibus Bill. Only four months later was Trudeau elected---by a number of delegates---Liberal leader, and Prime Minister after Pearson's resignation.

Not to mention it was the late 1960's and controversy was totally in.

Obama is smart enough to know that this is not the time to be ballsy.

Re: SNL: When Animals Attack in High Speed Chases II
You're right.

Neither Wanda Sykes or Louis CK have been in an SNL skit. At least to the extent of my knowledge.

Re: Gore on Climate Naysayers (CBS News)
Er, scratch that proper noun business. Thought I wrote "Gore's got a good racket..."

What's "he's"? A pronoun?

Re: Gore on Climate Naysayers (CBS News)
Heh. If this were a video about Exxon, I may have switched up the concluding sentence's proper noun.

I'm not trying to suggest Gore's involved in some sort of conspiracy. I'm trying to suggest that he knew he could make some quick cash by scaring the bijeezus out of the country---even if that means fudging the information a little.

But Hell, if I lost the presidency to a primordial ape, I'd probably want to do something a little crazy too. :)

It's cool! There's a whole shitload of information out there and it's often really difficult for us laymen to decipher and organize.

Re: Gore on Climate Naysayers (CBS News)
Please, you're humoring me. And putting words into my mouth---no where in what I wrote did I imply global warming is NOT due, in part, to anthropogenic forces. I'd either have to be mistaken or just plain stupid to embrace that kind of ideology. Though I fully understand how you may have deduced it. :)

There are great hoards of scientific theories seeking to explain climate change, or at the least, parts of it. Gore compiles one of them. Though minimally supported by the scientific community, he does a very good job of making it seem like it is (even if that means misinterpreting research in a huge-profit blockbuster film).

Though this past year has been relatively cool due to La Nina and the solar minima, I am not sure where you got your info regarding how the Earth is "supposed" to be experiencing a cooling phase (please link, I am curious know!). We are due for a cooling phase, geologically speaking, very soon, but the Earth is still within an interglacial period and thus, should be warming---and it is.

Re: Gore on Climate Naysayers (CBS News)
Ol' Gore has his entire business, his entire livelihood, rooted in the THEORY that Global Warming is anthropogenic. He is not EVER going to admit that there is an ever-growing mass of convincing evidence to suggest otherwise, not to mention the majority of climatologists and geologists in agreement that global warming is a natural process involved in the warming/cooling cycles of the Earth in this Ice Age.

He's got a good racket goin' on.

And it should be noted nearly 60% of participants did not indicate seeing anything out of the ordinary while counting the number of passes (aerial or ground and black or white conditions).
