I've seen another documentary about the same man in tv a couple of years ago (I think, he was still alive at the time they made it), and was shocked how this man's life was broken to pieces by the surgery. I'm not really sure who there is to blame, because his parents only wanted the best for him, and the doctor thought he is right with his theory of "gender education", but this is one damn good example that every scientist should know where borders are. I don't say that this is easy, but that's their job.

Very good documentation though.

The parents are idiots, you cannot realign a persons natural gender specific identity traits against their will. A transexual says I felt like a woman inside a man's body and vice versa. Their efforts should have been directed towards helping their son to deal with the trauma and a law suit.

The doctor is a self involved and self aggrandizing academic who had no problem playing God with another person's life. Bar the poor victim in all of this, they are idiots the lot of them.

Truth is, the kid was on the road to suicide from the second that his penis was destroyed. While the experiment didn't work, at least they tried to save him.

What a depressing story.
