FOX Attacks: Non-Existent Veterans
To Bill O'Reilly: Homeless veterans exist. FOX Attacks met some.
BOR was either ignorant to or consciously ignoring a recent study from the National Alliance to End Homelessness (using data from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Census Bureau) that found "In 2006, approximately 195,827 veterans were homeless on a given night, an increase of 0.8 percent from 194,254 in 2005. More veterans experience homelessness over the course of the year. We estimate that 336,627 were homeless in 2006."

Re: FOX Attacks: Non-Existent Veterans
First off, Bill O'Reilly is a douchebag. Pure and simple.
That said, I think this video does a HORRIBLE job of making the case against him. If he sees this video, he is just going to claim it is a fabrication. The people who are interviewed all seem to be well dressed, especially the first guy - crisp white shirt and tie, neatly trimmed beard, looks like he is in an office setting, maybe at his own desk. One of the others is wearing a bluetooth earpiece for a cell phone! I would like to have one of those myself, but haven't been able to afford one yet.
I won't pretend to know anything at all about homelessness, as I have been fortunate enough to have never been put into that situation. I am not saying that anyone who is homeless is automatically a destitute, dirty, alcoholic junkie, or anything close to that. All I am saying is that if this video aims to inspire sympathy for these people (to whom we owe such a great debt, btw), it could have, and SHOULD have, done a MUCH better job at it.

Re: FOX Attacks: Non-Existent Veterans
agreed, I was going to say something about that bluetooth untill I read your post.
But to make an agrument for the video. The only homeless vets that they can find easily are ones in shelters. If you notice all of them are in shelters, check the backround it reeks of Public.
Also For those still not convinced by the video.
"Veteran Specific Highlights:
23% of homeless population are veterans
33% of male homeless population are veterans
47% Vietnam Era
17% post Vietnam
15% pre Vietnam
67% served three or more years
33% stationed in war zone
25% have used VA Homeless Services
85% completed high school/GED compared to 56% of non-veterans
89% received Honorable Discharge
79% reside in central cities
16% reside in suburban areas
5% reside in rural areas
76% experience alcohol, drug, or mental health problems
46% white males compared to 34% non-veterans
46% age 45 or older compared to 20% non-veterans
Service needs:
45% help finding job
37% finding housing"
"Each year, 2.3 million to 3.5 million people experience homelessness in America. By taking 23% of that range for veterans, that would indicate there are between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans who are homeless at some time during the year."

Please, we've got enough money-sink subscriptions to worry about without a 24-7 reality sim running in the background. I'll gladly take a Wii or a beefy PC though if you're offering. 8)

Please teach us, O wise 20-something year old CYBERFOX! Surely, you know all there is to know about life! You with your sly, cyber ways.

Re: FOX Attacks: Non-Existent Veterans
I'll just ignore that 'life' thing for a moment or two.
Meantime, let me ask you a question: Are you suggesting that Billo is correct here and not worth ridicule? Are the facts meaningless in your eye?
Great big lob in your direction. Feel free to slam that tennis ball down my throat, if you are able.

Re: FOX Attacks: Non-Existent Veterans
Was Bill right when he stated that there was no such thing as a homeless veteran?
Now, is he treated unfairly by many? If that's your issue, you might have a point.
I'm not sure what "Chris Neufeld's MTM Surprise Christmas" has to do with anything, unless of course that was the wrong clip.

"That comment is so mean"
That part I'd respect if his intention was to be funny and/or blow off some steam.
You know, people need meanness in their lives. It's healthy; it's entertaining; gets the blood flowing; it challenges us; and, most importantly, it reminds us that a lot of shit simply isn't worth getting so upset over. So, why get the feathers ruffled over an obnoxious comment?
;)
Truth is, CyberFox did you people a favor: he gave you an ogre to throw stuff at. He stimulated your competitive interests, and most of you chose to attack him for it. Sure, his comment was dumbass, but it got to you.
Fun, eh?
