Loved it all except that last bit. Truth is, it's not about making an adult into a child so much as it's a power grab and about elevating oneself.

Re: Penn Teller 1st Amendment
On university campuses, it is about letting people persist as children. No one likes to be disparaged or taunted, especially about something largely irrelevant like religion or ethnicity. Yet, most people have learned to deal with it. However, a small fraction of ethnic and religious groups, which is an even smaller fraction of the campus population, want to limit the free speech of everyone so that they don't have to be exposed to this mostly insipid hate speech, usually aimed at garnering attention for free-speech anyways. It's childish on both ends.

What's worse is that the universities, public or private, have little power against writing amendments about free speech into their constitutions, because their success as an institution depends upon the continued patronage of the students, even though it's hard to please all of them. Many of these big babies have eminent parents and threaten to take legal action. It's a fucked up situation, and the immaturity of wanting to control what people can say, even though they will say it anyways, is childish. Even more childish is that hate speech on college campuses generally exists only to challenge those groups, and were it to be ignored, it would likely stop, like the school bully. No place of erudition should have to play hall monitor. It's retarded.

Once, a muslim on campus thought it would be a good idea to get him and his white friends together to spray lighter fluid on a dormroom wall, then light it. Of course, the wall caught fire causing thousands of dollars in damages, and the building had to be evacuated. He was expelled along with his white friends, but his uncle happens to be a powerful lawyer who threatened to sue on the basis of racial discrimination, despite the obviating fact that the other white students were expelled. It doesn't have to do directly with free speech, but it is indicative of the kind of unfair pressure these little bitches can and do exert on universities, limiting not only free speech, but campus life. No one should have to fend for them. It's embarrassing.

I have no respect for whiny ethnic or religious bitches, because I am a minority, and I've learned that the only real way to retaliate is to grow up and treat assholes like the assholes they are, which is to ignore them, or else say "fuck you" in return and get on with your day.

So, really, the universities aren't making adults into children, but rather they're pandering to children. It's not always the case, but it is the case at my school.

I'm looking over UCSC's sex offense policy and I don't see anything like that.
