Philadelphia: Do You Like Opera?
Tom Hanks explains opera to Denzel Washington, and in that the lawyer will understand how it feels when you know you're about to die.
From Jonathan Demme's movie from 1993.

I can't say that I've enjoyed opera at any point in my life but this was one powerful film. Both terribly depressing and amazingly (ugh, that word) uplifting. I thoroughly enjoyed when Denzel Washington's character attended an impromptu gay party and immediately understood that it wasn't about sex at all.

This was moving in '93 but it comes off as a little corny now. The film In America conveyed 100 times the emotion and complexities of dealing with the late stages of HIV sans the goofy melodrama.
