Truth is, he's a puppet for the theocracy in Iran.
As for Iran's hatred of Zionists? I am actually sympathetic towards the Palestinian plight. After all, they were not simply asked politely to leave their homes. It was at gunpoint. Suicide bombers dealing with 80% unemployment isn't the answer. Holocaust survivors view it as their right to own their land and drive off those not like them. Hey, both sides are totally wrong and need to reconcile based upon the Oslo Accord and the two state solution. A prosperous Palestine is in the best interests of Israel also.

Hating Zionism is one thing; hating Jews is another. There isn't a chance of reconciliation as long as leaders like Ahmadinejad continue to feed the ancient, irrational hatred of Jews.
He can say, as he does, that he respects Jews (but wants Israel wiped off the map). However, there's no way to explain away the Holocaust is a myth without falling back on the old prejudice that Jews are scheming conspirators manipulating history, politics, and economies in secret.
