Patience on this one folks. Trust me, it's worth the wait. And Hell... the music along the way ain't bad either.

It was fun watching it, knowing it was going to be something recognizable, and even having an idea of what it would be, but still not knowing when it would finally click.
Medleys are always frustrating through. I kept wanting to hear the whole song.

I'm sorry but this is miscategorized as high brow. This is about as low brow in the art world as you can get. I think some might argue Gallegher is more high brow than this cheese dick. This is what you get when Las Vegas and the art world collide. A big flashy colorful turd.

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
ok, it's not art, but it's entertaining, interesting, difficult and it amazed me in the end. So it's very respectable and still contributes to let people see things in different ways.

I three. As an art school graduate i see no reason to deny it being 'art'. Even if it is made into a performing art, or even commercialized, it's still expression.

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
it's not art because the guy is just painting a pretty picture, there is no deep level to it.
besides this is a routine act and therefor requires no creativity except the creating of the first painting.

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
Making a photographic print is also a routine act, as is making an ink print from an etching.
Also, the whole "deep level" thing is pretty slippery. The depth of an artist's intentions is no proof against crap art.

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
Can we just say that art can be defined by an artist trying to convey an emotion or thought through some sort of medium to his audience? I'd like to think it was accomplished in this, but thats just me o.O

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
So what of Warhol? Many argue he was a better businessman than artist, given that he found something people loved and marketed and reproduced the Hell out of it. But is each one of Marilyn's faces less of art than the first?
And what of Ballet? Highly choreographed pieces of dance are performed night after night for many days on end, executed in the same most elegant and precise manner. Is the opening night's performance the only performance worthy of artistic value?

Spinier-
Calling this guy a "cheese dick" because he paints a picture during a variety act is like calling a chainsaw juggler an asshole for being a lousy lumberjack.
What's with the chip on your shoulder?

I was wondering why every song was by Ray Charles...and then the end...that was cool!

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
What a cool show! I couldn't tell what it was going to be at all. Maybe if I'd been able to see the whole canvas. But it was fun to see the image suddenly pop out like that.

Re: Paintjam Dan Dunn
In response to the whole "this is not art" thing. Of course this is art, art is not always about emotion, or some deeper meaning. In my entire art career I strived to never put a deeper meaning into my pieces. Mostly because I knew some jack-ass art critic would come by and give it one anyway. I like making pretty things.
This guy made a portrait of Ray Charles, on stage in a few minutes with nothing but two big ass paint brushes, his hands, and five colors of paint and it was recognizable when he was done. IT'S ART.
