The missile launchers are the way to go. Only thing that packs enough firepower to crack through those tough little exoskeletons. Those lvl 70 ants are really hard to kill though.

You're right, Geist. The ants develop an armor as the levels increase. Eventually, the only thing that can get through the armor are missiles (cannon -> heavy cannon I -> heavy cannon II -> missile launcher).
While they only do 8 damage a second, they do it at 16 a pop, which is way higher than the typical 3-6 damage a strike. They also home in on the target, and have a greater range than the second strongest weapon, the laser.
So go missles! Try to keep the full range of the the weapon in the map, but at the same time don't leave very much space for the ants to slip by defenses. Don't forget that you can target specific ants by clicking on them.

I made a chart all the cannons and all the points for each cannon. I cant get past the low level 90's.

I got to somewhere in the 70s by putting two frost cannons near the pie and various attacking cannons including electric cannons, which can be effective in mass, near the anthill.

What's everyone's strategy? I build right next to the anthill and force them against the sides. Any suggestions?

I finished with 15058 on l.73

As well, I started with 2 impact cannons (heavy -> impact) to get through the early game then made them ice later on. The stalling is nice to get a few extra missile shots, especially later on when they get beefy. 2 ice right adjacent to the anthill then load up on missile.
Any other viable strategies out there?

I noticed that the ants will sometimes travel in the other direction once they are damaged and once ants find the safest path to the cake then others will follow. I imagine a strategy could be devised that could get the ants stuck in an AI loop that would trap them going back and forth between the anthill and the cake.

a sonic tower is also nice to have, just one in the centre. it seemed to confuse the ants and make them run in the wrong directions. that saved my butt a couple of times especially with ants running with precious pie.

I noticed something like this happen to me. I had the anthill surrounded by missile towers, and all of the ants started to walk along the top of the screen, between the anthill and the missile tower to the right of it. This lasted about 30 seconds. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I did to cause this.

How many total cannons did you fiinish with? I usually start with three around the anthill, 2 near the pie, and then just fill in other places when I can.

I am replying to myself now...but just want to start the comparison. I finished with 13068, level 67, 10 cannons...all of them turned into missile launchers.

The strategy that has worked the best for me, which i've heard nothing similar to is, i set up four quick cannon IV's around the hill and then 2 more quick cannon IV's behind the middle two. then i set up 2 more quick cannon IV's even further back. i know it may not sound very smart to use this many of one gun but the damage increases with every quick cannon IV you put in so the damage goes up to over 15. i have made it up to level 84 doing this

Hey guys - a NEW version of Ant Buster has been released and introduces level 3 versions of standard cannons, and level 2 upgrades of the special cannons like missile, pulse, snow, etc.
Completely different game now, and more addictive!

level 77, 17101 points! my best yet...
its so hard, each ant has about 5500 life, what I did worked very well, I put 3 ice cannons and 2 missle launchers at the ant hill, same thing at the cake area, then one missle launcher in the middle, later 2 in the middle, i had full cake till lvl 70

i love this game i play all the time mi bst stragity is placing 3-4 triple canonIII by the ant hole and 2 ice by the cake with 2 fast canons i got 10507 lv 61

They do 12 hits at 3 damage each per second, then you can upgrade it again for even more power in the new version to 8 damage each. 96 damage per second!
