VeggieTales parody showing horrifying, violent, and scandalous moments in religion.

More irreverent humor from Robert Smigel.

For more on the story behind the VeggieTales, where parents resort to teaching their kids religion by plopping them down in front of a TV and pop a video in:

Re: SNL TV Funhouse: The Religetables
Glad you liked it. I found this very enjoyable on many levels, plus we're up to about 85% of all the SNL TV Funhouse episodes here. There's a couple that will never make it here... "Sex and the Country". Sadly, it contains bestiality scenes. And "Shazzang", which also portrays some animal cruelty.

Re: SNL TV Funhouse: The Religetables
I don't remember "sex and the country", but "Shazzang" is great - the violence makes the point that cartoons and other popular media may portray heroes with "upright" values, but their hubris and bravado corrupt those values. They are not the qualities of a true hero. Then, of course, because humour is the ultimate goal, it turns into a piece about his personal emotional baggage.

As familiar as I am with the general content of Milk and Cookies, am I really to believe that the line is drawn so randomly at something like cartoon bestiality for the sake of satire and humour?

I agree. Nothing The Smigel ever creates will be held accountable in it's sin, for everything created in his name was holy, and called good (to be pooped on).

Smigel poops in your general direction.

Re: SNL TV Funhouse: The Religetables
The line isn't quite so random as it is specific. And the poop scoop is that I might disagree with it a little bit but I can live with it. I was a vegetarian for over 14 years, after all.

The rules of this joint actually make it better to hang out here than at many other places. This coming from a guy who hates rules, doesn't want to obey them and generally dislikes the reasoning behind most of them.

Veggietales is actually an entertaining program. Though I think it's sick and wrong trying to feed children these lies about Jesus. You know WHY there are so many christians in the world? Becuase when those christians were kids, they were fed this garbage! Remove the religious references, and you've got yourself an awesome show.
