I was never really a fan of him (Elvis, though now that I think of it Ed Sullivan wasn't the greatest act on TV). Hell, this performance is from before I was born (yes, that old).

I'm ASS-uming the camera angle and cropping were intentional, given that the censors at the time didn't look kndly on Elvis the Pelvis.
My parents are from the South, and Elvis was definitely looked askance upon in terms of his open sexuality and bad boy charm @ that time, kinda like the Iggy Pop of the 1950s, except no messy stage antics...heh.

I saw his third and final appearance on Sullivan (I'll post it tomorrow if you're nice to me) where he did shake quite a bit and the camera went as low as his ankles. It was only a year later.
