In the past, we didn't have recorders or televisions to listen to presidents' speeches. All we had was our ears and reporters to write it all down. Back then it mattered a whole lot more what they said. There was no room for error, and even if there was, there sure as shit weren't thousands of them. Whatever happened to "think before you speak"?
