Duck and Cover with Bert the Turtle
The movie Duck and Cover was produced in 1950, during the first big Civil Defense push of the Cold War.
When the Soviet Union exploded its first nuclear device in 1949, the U.S.
monopoly on nuclear weapons was broken.
At least in theory, the United States was more vulnerable than it ever had been in its history.

Yup, crawling under my school desk will surely save my ass from three million degrees Kelvin.

Well modern day bomb drills are still no better. It's still sit back and wait to 'xplode.

Now this is more like it! This is the type of stuff I really like to see on Milk and Cookies. Snippets from TV shows get a wee bit monotonous at times.

Re: Duck and Cover with Bert the Turtle
Totally pointless to mention, but the picnic-situation scene can be seen in the video game "Prey" if you fool around the very first stage of the game. There's a TV you can turn on in the bar and it shows a few little black and white movie sequences on several chanels. The picnic scene is one of them. Okay, that's cool. At least you now learned something else about it beside ducking and covering.

Rather surprised that it was only now that this surfaced. If anyone wants HQ versions of the clip, archive.org has it in a bunch of formats:
