Henry Rollins on Evolution
Henry Rollins explains why the theory of evolution cannot be denied by Christains because of it's mountain of evidence.

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
He's right about evolution, but I wonder if he would make the same speech in Europe, where it is Muslim fundamentalists pushing creation science - as their populations are growing and growing. Absinence in high-school and Intelligent design theory are the new dark ages? How about honor killings, amputations for thieves, the poll tax for Jews ect, abstinence -or- die education (not to mention 6 day creation).

He won't be so mean to them, they are after all, an ethnic minority originating from poor countries - expect a nicer tone when discussing the Koran, if he ever had the balls to do so.

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
I'm not sure how well you know Henry Rollins. I have a feeling that he'd be happy to hand Muslim fundamentalists their balls on a stick. I think that maybe he, like I, are much much more disturbed seeing their fellow Americans indulging in such dangerous ignorance in such large numbers, particularly considering that we are the most powerful country on the planet. Say all you want about 9/11, but they killed less than 3000 Americans. We've killed more American soldiers than that in Iraq and we're still not done, let alone 100+ thousand Iraqis, while actually leaving the world LESS safe from Islamic fundamentalism. Ignorance and power are a dangerous combination.

I think that Rollins would agree that if the United States, with its excellent stability and resources, can't do it right, no country on this planet can. That's puts us all in a serious boatload of shit, my friend.

"We've killed more American soldiers than that in Iraq and we're still not done, let alone 100+ thousand Iraqis, "

"We?" You and who else did that? You mean to tell me you are an Islamic terrorist planting road-side bombs killing American soldiers? You are a Muslim insurgent blowing up mosqes and marketplaces killing thousands of innocents?

This is exactly what I am talking about. You can't even hold Muslims responsible for their own actions, as if they are mere subhuman insects who can only respond to stimuli, and bear no ideology or free will of their own. If Muslims were white people, you would change your tune and blame all the carnage rightly on them.

The Islamic terrorists are responsible for killing U.S. soldiers and tens-of-thousands of innocents, not "us."

Now are you going to blame the biologists for causing such a reaction in the Christian fundamentalists that they promote 6-day creation? Are the biologists ultimately responsible for stimulating the Christian to become a zealous preacher of junk science? Of course not. Christians are typically white people. Am I right?

By "We've killed more American soldiers than that in Iraq and we're still not done, " I think he's pointing at the whole 'we're here to stop WMDs, cover the costs with your oil, and stomp the dictator next door.... Oh, and that other fellow, Ol' Selme Ben Laudman' reasoning for going there.

Of course, unless he responds himself, /s however could we possibly tell what he truly meant? /s

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
Wow. I definitely saw some of that coming, but there seem to be a few anger issues here. No problem, Poonhound. You and I have jousted a bit before, and I appreciate your input.

Let me just say this, I guess. If you jump off a cliff, did the ground at the bottom kill you, or is it pretty reasonable to say that you killed yourself?

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
I'm all for evolution debates, and I take the same position as this guy, but I think this speech is kind of weak. It just sounds like preaching to the choir. I mean, no one coming from the opposite side of the argument would be swayed by what he just said.

So far my favorite speaker in this subject is Dr. Steven Novella of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe. He's very good at illustrating the same points Rollins was eluding to, but he lays it out logically and explains the fallacies involved so that even people of opposing view points might stop to challenge their beliefs.

It is kind of weak, but he is preaching to the choir...that's exactly who watches his show. Why waste energy and time converting the choir? The idea of converting christians using paid cable airtime is silly.

Life-long christians lack even the most basic scientific principles. Conversion requries re-education.

Science Damn-it, man!

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
It boils down to "God thought of it first".

Suppose evolution was proven false and some other nonreligious idea was proven true; like say: E.T. origin. Then all the religions would start integrating ET Origin into their church doctrine. They've been doing it for centuries, snuffing out popular native religions by integrating their own bullshit.

Believe what you want, just don't be surprised if i think your a damned foo

Re: Henry Rollins on Evolution
Agreed, argument is kinda weak and yes, he is preaching to the choir, but the more voices there are out there in support for enlightenment, the better. Civilisation's chances of curbing the downhill race of the new North-American-empire-cum-theocracy are slim, at best.

Keep hammerin'!
