That clip did not make sense. Not to mention that it wasn't funny or (prepare for nerdom) even accurate. Chewbacca never lived on Endor!

The Ewoks never lived on Endor, either. They live on Endor's forest moon.
The clip is a satire of Cochran's defense of OJ (If it doesn't fit, you must acquit!). I didn't think it was funny at the time, but now that I can go back and look at Cochran's argument, I can definitely appreciate it.
