Re: The Thin Red Line
While many people swooned over Saving Private Ryan and its' combination of brutality with trademark Spielberg sentimentality, I've always thought that Thin Red Line was a waaaay superior outing, with a much more humane and philosophical approach, asking the really important questions. But hey, what else does one expect from Terrence Malick?
Four films in thirty years, four masterpieces:
- Badlands (1973)
- Days Of Heaven (1978)
- The Thin Red Line (1998)
- The New World (2005)
Filmmakers don't come smarter than this guy.

Many times have I tried convincing people of this film's superiority. Most people won't listen.
Regardless, it's easily in my top 10 films and I listen to the score constantly. Sublime work.
