As usually, he is absolutely bang on. Religion deserves none of the credit it receives; and, for the sake of healthy future generations, the mindless dogma BS that (most) organized faith pushes needs to be purged. It has no business in ANY thinking society. Seriously, people need to regulate these dumbass beliefs to their own private lives. I'm F'n sick of hearing about things like abortion, stem cell research and gay rights being 'debated'. WTF!?! there is nothing to F'n debate! All these God-fearing morons needs to stfu and leave everyone else the F alone.

As far as I can tell it's you atheist's that are the most vocal and splenetic section of our modern thinking communities. Perhaps it is people like you who should learn how to shut the fuck up and let everyone else get on with their thing.

I'd love it if everyone else got on with their thing. Unless their "thing" is beating women in the streets for violating the dress code, or pumping science classes full of Noah's Arc, or bombing busses in the name of a slightly different interpretation of Christianity.

Criticizing religion is no more splenetic than criticizing junk food, bad driving, lead paint, thalidomide or outdoor advertising. Religion has been getting a free pass on all its abuses for too many centuries.

Nothing is sacred.

"As far as I can tell...(wank, wank)"

You can believe your pet dog is the creator of the bloody universe - I don't give a toss. Just please keep such absurd beliefs from influencing public policies. Not unless you can actually somehow provide proof that your insane ideas are true.

Cannot do that? Well then... you can wear this pointed hat and go stand in the corner.

Fella, if you have a problem with sane people commenting on the actions of the insane then it is YOU that is the problem.

Maybe some of us athiests (sans apostrophe, you illiterate dope... it's not possessive in your reference) are quite tolerant of believers.

Maybe, just maybe it's your own bias and defensive response.

But when you initiate hostilities and give us that tough-guy-behind-the-keyboard STFU, it is clearly a case of your needing to grow up. Not an insult, it's nothing short of fact here.

Pssssssst ... when telling others how to spell correctly, be sure to foolproof your own writing ...

;-)

Hint: the fifth word. It happens, of all words, to be the exact same word oh well, you get the point.

Now you may curse at me.

Looks like I was praying to the god of WHOOPS rather than praying to the god of the bottle. Heh.

Rarely do I become so donnish as to pick on someone for their spelling or grammar. The snobbish attitude that was evident in the post that I had replied to seems to have gotten the better of me. Or, I allowed it to happen. No matter.

Curse you? Why should today be any different than any other. Don't you wake up with your ears burning? ;-)

Re: Pat Condell: A Secular World is a Sane World
Illiteracy pertains to an inability to derive an understanding or convey a rational thought through written prose or lack of a proper education - not grammar. Grammar enhances thw written word, it does not execute it or give it an import.

To that end, my point was clear and it was a simple mistake of mine made in haste - but it typifies just how parochial you can be - focusing on one infinitesimal point rather than looking at the larger scope of the arguement being made.

I don't care if you are an atheist or a Muslim or Christian etc. I don't care who tries to influence any political process - in the end we are all cudgeled by the same indifferent political processes that do what they want when they want whether you live in the USA or Iran. In the States you have the illusion of freedom whereas in Iran you have your hands cut off for an indiscretion. It's only a matter of degrees.

What I do care about is when someone goes out of their way to deride and lampoon the beliefs that another person holds dear.

You maintain that my belief in a deity is ludicrous, I hold the same to a theory that proposes that I evolved from an ape (throw your barb here).

I shall believe what I will in quiet contemplation, if you had any dignity you would as well. What you see as harmless japery I observe as a personal insult and an attack.

I would expect this from the likes of Pat Condell or Evil Mind, but honsetly Spam Vigilante you disappoint me here and it is you who needs to grow up child.

Get off your flippin' high horse and don't be such a baby.

Folks who don't like religion deserve an environment to vent. So what if some opinions here make you all uppity. Absolutely nothing that has been said here is a threat to you or whatever the hell it is you believe.

Don't be a victim so easily. It's a sign of weakness... and it's simply irritating.

Take your pious outrage and shove it, pal

2:57 -- "There are plenty of religious people who are secularists, they believe in god, but they've got too much class to try and force their views on everybody else. And that's all secularism means. It means religious freedom for everybody, not just for religious people."

Sounds like a match to me. Quiet contemplation? I'm all for it, but harmless japery plays better around here.

While we're talking grammar, my heart is filled with contrition for my own error. Maybe we need Noah's Ark pumped into spelling class.
