Orson Welles' Touch Of Evil - 1998 Trailer
Theatrical reissue trailer for Orson Welles' gritty noir thriller, given the recognition it always deserved as a great cinematic achievement, starring Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Marlene Dietrich, Joseph Cotten, Zsa Zsa Gabor and The Man Himself.

Re: Orson Welles' Touch Of Evil - 1998 Trailer
I'm posting both trailers for comparison's sake, and to regard how a film is treated in its' day as a business venture, then later as an artistic icon to be admired.
Two of the many reasons why the studio hated this, their own film:
1. Vargas (Heston) the Mexican cop, is noble and honest, while Quinlan (Welles) the American cop, is thoroughly corrupt. Unthinkable!
2. Vargas is married to an American girl (Leigh), and that tinge of interraciality was too much for fifties, white anglo-saxon prurient mores.
In the second point, a compromise was reached. The Mexican cop was to be played by Charlton Heston, who, while playing a Mexican married to an American girl, was still, you know, nod nod wink wink, a white man.
